Metropolitan Fire Services Issue Warning to Adelaide Residents to Service Air Conditioner
Sunday, January 28, 2018 // News
Since 2012, MFS and Country Fire Service crews have responded to more than 112 South Australian house fires caused by air conditioners, evaporative coolers and fans. Of those, 19 were last year and 24 were in 2014. In 2012 there were 39 fires involving cooling equipment. Fire fighters are warning home owners to service their air conditioners before the heat returns after a fire damaged yet another northern suburbs home in Elizabeth East in early January 2016. According to The Advertiser “The family of three, who was home at the time, could smell smoke. However, it was the neighbours who saw the flames and contacted triple-zero,”. About $30,000 damage was caused to the home, and the bathroom ceiling collapsed. MFS Acting Commander of Community Safety and Resilience Simon Hogben said it is important that air conditioners, evaporative coolers and fans are checked and serviced by a qualified tradesperson before the arrival of long periods of hot weather. “In recent years, South Australia has experienced extended heatwaves and more of the same is occurring this summer,” he said. “If you have faulty or poorly maintained air cooling equipment, the risk of overheating and consequently fire, increases. It is very important to maintain all home appliances and the MFS recommends that people have their air cooling equipment serviced now, so they are ready to withstand the rest of this lengthy summer.” Mr Hogben said the fire service does not discourage the use of air conditioners during summer, but urged South Australians to reduce the fire risk by using qualified tradespeople to install and maintain systems correctly and having them serviced regularly. He said tradespeople should be asked to check for faults, remove any build-up of dust or combustible material and ensure the equipment is in good working order. He warned that cooling equipment should not be left running while not at home.

Why Choose Ducted Air Conditioning?
Saturday, January 13, 2018 // News
If you are planning on buying a number of reverse cycle split systems for your home in Adelaide you might want to consider opting for ducted air conditioning instead. Ducted air conditioning is the only way to give you complete temperature control for every room of your home. Ducted air conditioning is a cooling and heating system with a series of ducts that run from one hidden, centralised unit to each room in your home. There are many benefits of Ducted Air Conditioning including improved aesthetics, energy efficiency, reduced noise and even air distribution.
Some of the major benefits of ducted air conditioning are:
Full Climate Control
Ducted air conditioning gives you full climate control over your entire home so there are no random hot or cold spots.
You can control the temperature of specific rooms or ‘zones’ and turn the air conditioning off to certain areas when those areas are not in use.
Easy control with central temperature and zone control. Simple set and forget timing options.
The ability to cool or heat your entire home using just one system.
Ducted air conditioning is a system that’s hidden from view. With only grills mounted in the ceiling or floor visible, ducted systems do not intrude into the overall look of your home like window or wall hung units can.
Reduced Operating Noise
Because the noise generating parts of the system are placed away from the main living areas of your home ducted systems are a quiet non obtrusive solution.
Increased Cost Savings
In most houses ducted air conditioning is a cheaper option than to install a wall hung split system into every room of your house.
Increased Property Value
Adding ducted air conditioning increases the overall sale value of your home.
Increased Energy Savings and Efficiency
Advanced inverter technology ensures accurately regulated temperature so that your system does not have to run all of the time. Along with effective zone configuration and control you can ensure maximum energy efficiency and savings on your energy bills.
If you are interested in an all in one heating and cooling solution for your entire home that offers you long term benefits and added value to your home then ducted air conditioning is your best choice.
